The Danger of Overconfidence

jeremy jurkiewicz almost loses ironman

If you are ever going to compete in the Ironman and you find yourself in first place make sure you cross the finish line BEFORE you celebrate!

Jérémy Jurkiewicz of France had basically completed the Ironman in Brazil and stopped a little to early to celebrate. Maybe he thought he was so far ahead that he was out of reach? Maybe he figured he would showboat a little? Either way, it almost cost him the race.

Being cocky is a slippery slope. No one finds it attractive and in the end it can bite you in the rear.

There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow-man; true nobility is being superior to your former self. – Ernest Hemingway
