The Curse of the Black Spot
Our eyes tend to be drawn to the black spot and therefore that it usually the first thing that we notice. In everyday life our eyes are often drawn to the “black spots,” the negative things going on around us.
If you prefer to look busy while staying ineffective you should ignore the rule above and actually set way more goals that you could ever complete in 17 lifetimes.
The number one way to read faster is to reduce subvocalization. Subvocalization is what we were taught in school. Why? I have no clue!
Jérémy Jurkiewicz of France had basically completed the Ironman in Brazil and stopped a little to early to celebrate. Maybe he thought he was so far ahead that he was out of reach? Maybe he figured he would showboat a little? Either way, it almost cost him the race.
As a pastor I have noticed that there are many kind-hearted and encouraging people that love to build other people up. I can think of a few specific people that I love being around because they always make me feel like a better person than I really am. However, I have also noticed that there are some people that feel like their gift in life is criticism. I would be lying if I said that criticism doesn’t hurt, proving that this old poem is wrong…at least in my case.
